Central Austin Housing Costing a (Not So) Pretty Penny

Central Austin housing costing a (not so) pretty penny

CENTRAL AUSTIN – In 2017, just 12 percent of homes built in Austin proper were considered affordable for median-earning households.

Housing is considered affordable when a household spends 30 percent or less of its income on housing costs, including utilities.

Households that spend more are considered cost-burdened.

The median income of $65,100 falls short of being able to afford a home in Central Austin.
